Cemetery and Memorial Garden

The Superior Cemetery is located south of Superior on State Highway 371.  A new section of the Mountain View Cemetery was opened for the public use in 1994.  For information on plots and information on the cemetery please contact the town clerks office.

The old historic graveyard was mainly used between the years 1900 and 1923, however there is one grave marked 1933.  Cemetery Records from 1900-1923 can be viewed under the tab "History of Superior".  One will notice that most of these graves are dated during the influenza epidemic following World War I.  No written record was kept of the Superior Historic Grave Yard.  After 1923 the people of Superior were mostly buried in the Rock Springs Graveyard.

Superior Memorial Garden

The Superior Cemetery Committee has dedicated a section of the cemetery property east of the old cemetery as a memorial garden site.  This section will be used as a site to place memorial stones for people who lived in Superior at some point in their lives but may be interred elsewhere.  We believe that these people should be remembered as Superior residents because even though they may have moved on to other endeavors, the fact is that they contributed greatly to the development of Superior as a town and the history of Sweewater County ans the state of Wyoing in general.

The dimensions of the memorial stones must be 14" long x 8" wide and 4" thick set on a concrete foundation, gray in color with a frosted panel in which the name, year of birth and year of death shall be carved.  To provide uniformity and consistency of the memorial garden's appearance and integrity please abide by these dimensions and content.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Superior Mountainview Cemetery/Memorial Garden may do so by mailing said donations to:  Superior Cemetery c/o Town of Superior, P.O. Box 40, Superior WY  82945 or they may be brought to the Administration Building/Town Hall Monday - Thursday 7:30am to 5pm.

All donations will be used for maintenance and future improvements at the Memorial Garden.
